Ecological Solid Waste Management System in Three Cities

Project Features
Implementation of technical cooperation project between the Philippine and Japanese governments to introduce suitable solid waste management systems in Sagay City (Negros Occidental), Calbayog City (Samar), and Davao City; strengthening of solid waste management planning; improvement of solid waste collection and final disposal systems; provision of a pilot barangay-level Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) comprising administrative center, composting shed, household waste shredder, bioreactor, platform scale, temporary storage bins and tools.

Manila Third Sewerage Project

Project Features
Improvement of sewerage and sanitation conditions in Metro Manila’s East Zone concession area through the construction of four sewage treatment plants in Taguig based on the conjunctive use of existing flood retention ponds with a combined capacity of 130 MLD, three underground sewage treatment plants with a total capacity of 6 MLD along the banks of the Pasig River, two septage treatment plants of 586 and 814 cu m/d capacity serving Quezon City, Marikina and the majority of towns in Rizal province with the treated septage to be used for reclamation of lahar contaminated soils; an 8 MLD sewage treatment plant in Camp Atienza; upgrading of three existing communal septic tanks into sewage treatment plants with a combined capacity of 12 MLD in Quezon City; and upgrading of settlement areas in the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System’s right-of-way.

Southern Mindanao Integrated Coastal zone Management Project

Project Features

Comprehensive Study of the Capacity Optimization of La Mesa Reservoir

Interventions to optimize the long term capacity of the La Mesa reservoir, being a major component of the Metro Manila water supply system, but is now threatened by heavy siltation and sedimentation.

Scope of Services

Quezon City West Sewerage System Project

Preparing the Pasig River Catchment Sewerage Project

Project Features
Construction of wastewater facilities to increase sewerage coverage to 100% by 2018 in the three river basins of Marikina, Pasig and San Juan rivers, which serve as the main waterways and conveyance of polluted water in Metro Manila; the catchment area encompasses 5.2 million hectares and will serve a projected population of 1.8 million.

Project Features
Development of a 70 ha industrial estate within the Subic Bay Freeport to cater to small-to-medium scale high-tech industries. The project specifically involved the planning, development and provision of infrastructure facilities including roads, street drainage, main drainage canal, site development/perimeter fence/river bank protection, water supply system, sewage collection and treatment system, power and lighting systems, and a solid and hazardous waste management system.

Groundwater Development Study in Panay Island

Project Features
Development of appropriate water sources, such as deep wells, springs and/or river infiltration galleries, for each municipality considering their physical and socio-economic condition and management and technical capabilities. The study comprised 2 phases: the Basic Study for Phase I and the Verification Study for Phase II. The recommended water sources for the 13 municipalities included springs, infiltration galleries, deep wells, rehabilitation of existing deep wells, and augmentation of existing infiltration galleries.

Scope of Services
Conducted an extensive scientific and technical investigation. The work in the Phase I Study included an evaluation of relevant data, a georesistivity survey, a reconnaissance survey of existing water use conditions and population and demand projections. For Phase II the work included the construction of observation/test wells, concept design, detailed design, and cost estimates of the water supply system for each municipality.

Island Provinces Rural Water Supply Project
