Assessment of Current Status of Basic Sanitation Services in Rural Communities and Urban Poor Zones in Honduras

Project Features
Identification of the current status of basic sanitation in Honduras and the drafting of a road map to be able to provide assistance on the development of a strategy to improve access to sanitation services.

Scope of Services
Review water sector policies and legal framework, access to safe water and sanitation services and tariff policy among others; design an institutional mapping of governmental agencies and NGOs working on sanitation; carry-out a field assessment to identify the status of sanitation services; identify lessons learned and good practices as well as models of intervention in sanitation; and propose strategies and project interventions for the development of basic sanitation in Honduras.

The Preliminary Study for Tegucigalpa Urban Area Water Supply Development

Project Features
Construction of Los Laureres II dam or the development of other alternative sources to augment the existing supply of water to Tegucigalpa, capital city of Honduras, with approximately one million of population.

Scope of Services
Review of the previous master plan and the feasibility study; collection and analyses of various relevant data & information; site reconnaissance and visits to all major sites such as proposed dam sites, existing dams, existing water purification plants, river structures, etc.; conduct of investigation and study on the alternative projects for improving the water shortage conditions in the city, which include improvement of pipelines and reservoirs, water diversion from the Ojojona basin, expansion and improvement of Picacho water purification plant and the intakes & transmission waterway, and improvement of water supply to developing areas by water trucks.
