Lilongwe Sewerage Project

Project Features
Development of sewerage system in Lilongwe, the capital city of Malawi, with a service area of 500 ha and service population of 22,000 through the construction of 6.1 MLD sewage treatment plant, 17.5 km trunk sewer of 500 to 800 mm diameter, 25.3 km sewer network of 150 to 450 mm diameter, and laboratory for quality control of treated water; provision of vehicles for operation and maintenance. The complete sewerage system and treatment plant operate on a gravity system with no pumping thereby saving substantial operation and maintenance costs.

Scope of Services
Feasibility study, detailed design; preparation of tender documents and cost estimates; prequalification of contractors, tender evaluation; assistance in contract finalization; construction supervision; implementation planning and programming; construction claim review; operations management; benefits monitoring and evaluation; training in the operation and maintenance of the sewerage system.
